Abstract : Believing that the condition of the untouchables would not improve without abandoning
Hinduism, which supported untouchability, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar announced conversion in 1935. A
study of the positive and negative response received by him mainly from the Dalit class and the rebuttal
made by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, has been presented in this research article.
